In Response To: Looked great, in bad need of fog, Terminal a joke (Avateur) : They show seven Halos even though it's a big huge shock to everyone in Halo 2 : that there are so many other Installations. Wait what? People speculated there were 7 Halos from the beginning. Even if it was only a theory at the time, you know from Halo 1 that Guilty Spark is the monitor of Installation 04, which leads one to believe there are at least 3 other Halos. "Once the others follow suit..." from Two Betrayals also implies multiple Halos. That's a pretty small thing to nitpick over. Even if it were true, no matter what gets done in the future nothing will ever be the same as playing each game as they came out. People should stop trying to pretend like they are traveling back in time and re-introducing themselves to the Halo universe from a blank slate with this game. The vast majority of people purchasing this will have already played through the other games, know what happened, or don't care enough to find out. That being said, I do hate retcons tremendously. I think you can pay fan service without resorting to it, and I view not finding a way to make something new work within existing canon as lazy. Retcons are easy. Continuity is hard. I have no problem with Guilty Spark trying to send a message to the PoA that would've informed the crew of the existence of 7 Halos, among other things. I do have a problem with him discovering human history at the start and then acting surprised in The Maw when he finds it again. That just doesn't make any sense and is unnecessary. -SR
