The way I interpret it, GS tried to send : the PoA a warning but it just didn't get through. Maybe the PoA just : couldn't pick up the kind of transmission he was sending. Look at it that : way; we knew only what the characters knew in Halo CE. We (and the : characters) were being sent a welcome message that we just didn't see. The video begins with a UNSC display interface changing into a Forerunner one, which seems to suggest the terminal is on the PoA (the only human environment in the game), which implies they did receive the message. There's a possibility I'm wrong, but that's the impression I got. : I haven't read a lot about how they're handling the terminals, but from what : I can gather, it's meant to be similar to how it was in Halo 3. They look : like they're meant to allow the player to be omnipresent and omniscient. : The characters never have to know about them, but they can reveal canon to : the audience without interfering or integrating with the in-Universe : storyline. I always interpreted the terminals in H3 as being in-universe, like the Chief is actually reading them instead of just the player. They seem to have been designed that way too, given the fact Mendicant Bias addresses the Chief through one, and the fact they don't contradict with the game's own story in any way, merely complement it. On the other hand, what we're seeing here is the Chief being given information he isn't supposed to know yet, and 343GS having access to human history before he's supposed to. It's possible the terminals will not be in-universe, but everything about the way they're presented seems to suggest they are.
