(Leisandir) The thing I have come to realize is that although I thought Halo was awesome when I was a young teen, I should have come to my senses long ago and admitted that it's mostly low-grade pulp. I also liked the Star Wars expanded universe and thought that Tim Zahn was the greatest writer on Earth. These things pass. TFoR probably wasn't that great. Neither was Reach. But Halo does have its moments, and hopefully as a massive entertainment franchise, it will continue to have moments like Frankie's H3 terminals or Cryptum - solid, thought-provoking space opera. Or moments like the Landfall shorts, where attempts to be like Black Hawk Down weren't undercut by a bizarrely limp and disconnected plot, as in Reach.
