In Response To: Re: Perhaps more "unscientific" data. (Morphius) Wow, is all I can say. I've never understood the zealotry people get with their platform / console / software of choice. I say, if it works, and you like it, and you have the money, go for it. As a target demographic for the XBox marketing blitz (not to mention the Dreamcast's, PS2's, and GameCube's) I must say that I am not impressed with the XBox. Sure, you can throw all the numbers you want at me to support your opinion; about its 733 MHz PIII processor, its polygon count, blah blah blah. But those are numbers to me. Sure, it means the XBox is, without a doubt, a monster of a console (that'd probably explain the size of it ;) with the raw power and potential to make outstanding, outstanding games. I say potential because ... well, oils and acrylics can be used to make paintings, right? And with any sort of web development tools (Flash, Shockwave, etc.) anyone can make a slightly interactive web page, right? But only people with true talent and skill make truly outstanding works of art, or truly unbelievable web pages. And, I must say, the tools are there; we must simply wait for the Picassos and the XiaoXiao's of the XBox Development world to surface. Simply put, I'm not impressed with the first-generation games that XBox currently has demos for. Maybe they'll improve; actually, I KNOW they'll improve. PS2's opening lineup wasn't (to me) all that impressive either; now, I have great games to go along with my system, and more to follow, now that it's November (MGS2 and Soul Reaver 2, anyone?) Likewise, as the months go on, I'm sure developers, once they're more comfortable with the hardware, will come out with very impressive games, which would convince me to purchase the system. Right now, though, I'm quite content with Devil May Cry, Ico, Silent Hill 2, Capcom Vs SNK 2, Klonua, and a little-known Unison. These games will tide me over until that time that the XBox becomes, in my eyes, the "must-have" system. And may I say, Morphius, that every time you talk about XBox, you only mention Halo. Not Munch's Odessey, not NFL Fever 2002, and not Wreckless: The Yakuza Mission (which looks damn hot, btw.) Also, may I say that the XBox controller is DAMN unwieldy, and the XBox's mammoth size certainly matches its raw processing power. You may start your flames.
