Everybody gets and Ark

What if not just Humans as is commonly though of but EVERYONE in the Halo Universe was somehow connected to the Forerunners. What if each pocket of life currently in the Galexy hid in it's own Ark during the last firing, and each pocket lost knowledge of it. Perhaps Humans were some sect within the Forerunner who didn't want to hide with the rest.

Imagine Humanity and the Covenant living together before the last firing. Humans deside to build the rings, but no other species want to go through with it. Humans are the smartest and the best, so are able to build the rings without the willingness of the prophets or elites or anyone else... but we don't want to hide out with other sentient species who might be a little ticked that we are wiping out all life in the Galexy. So we hide on our own on Earth and send all other intelegent species to go hide out somewhere else, and have everybody forget what went down.

Humans and Covenant could have been around in the time of the Forerunner and we could still be the only "reclaimers" because they're our rings!

Some remnant of memory (warped, skewed, partial and inaccurate) could be why the Covenant are pissed as hell at us.
