I think that it is the very nature of a Lagrange point that it lie on the same orbital plane as the two bodies it is stuck between. That would mean that the eclipse is inevitable.
If all this turns out to be correct... It would have been extremely cool had it been worked into the game. A total solar eclipse during a pitched battle would have been a hell of an effect. Could have provided some interesting tactical options as well.
