In Response To: Re: Bungie responds to Activision contract. (scarab) : I think that Cody loves great gameplay. He prefers it to great story. I'm not sure I would say this. I love great stories. There's tons of great stories throughout our history of film and literature that are very valuable not just as entertainment, but as a means to explore humanity. And I love these. The problem is that none of these are video games, and none ever will be, since video games are not a very good way to tell stories. So while I love good stories, they simply aren't going to come from video games. So you're kind of half right; when I play a video game it's because I want the 'gameplay' since I know by the nature of the medium I'm not going to get a really great narrative told well. I will explain this down the line, but it's true due to the opposing nature of story and game. My stance is that if you want to make a game, you need to concentrate on making a good game. If you want to tell a story, then you probably shouldn't make a game since you'll do it better if you don't.
