In Response To: Re: Bungie responds to Activision contract. (kanbo) : Maybe that's what they're trying to fix. Cody's point is that the story is the wrong thing to concentrate on. His example was to demonstrate that time spent on fixing stories is wasted time. Bungie (and now 343i) have spent a lot of energy fixing story and yet the story is not fixed. Of course, maybe, MAYBE, if Bungie gets the story right from the start then they wont have to spend energy fixing it. Maybe it takes less energy to maintain a story on a correct course if its initial state is correct. I think that Cody loves great gameplay. He prefers it to great story. I suspect that he thinks that Bungie is one of the few developers that stand a chance of giving him the gameplay that he wants therefore he doesn't want them distracted by story. I also think that he comes here because HBO is influential in Bungie's decision making and HBO is the house of story so he is here to give a dissenting opinion, to add balance. I don't mind what Cody says, I don't even mind how he says it. Cody is Cody and he may not be wrong just because we disagree or don't like his certainty. I did like the simplicity of the original game's gameplay and I share some concerns about story nerfing gameplay in Halo 4. (Though I suspect that Cody cares nothing for 343i until they release a game that sparks his interest.) I am a Mass Effect fan and I'm not an accomplished game player but I see where he is coming from.
