In Response To: Re: Why arena ranking promotes selfish play (JonnyOThan) : For purposes of arena rating, assists and kills are rewarded equally. Deaths (actively giving the other team a point) doesn't seem to be weighted heavily enough, and I'll provide a few game stats to illustrate.
Game 1: Rating, Kills, Assists, Deaths, Spread.
It would appear that giving the other team 6 points as opposed to 16 isn't weighted appropriately. +10 (more kills in spread), +2 more assists is only ~90 points worth of rating? I would respectfully disagree - it's the one thing that stood out like a sore thumb about the Arena math post - dying isn't punished enough/not-dying is not rewarded enough. Game 2: Rating, Kills, Assists, Deaths, Spread.
Similar situation only this time, i did not lead in kills. Game 3: Rating, Kills, Assists, Deaths, Spread. Me): 1522, 15, 0, 4, +11
I grant that I had zero assists in the match, however I maintain that a larger spread (or even least deaths by far) should have a much meatier rating attached to it as it is actively denying the other team points (through refusal to die). Thoughts?
