In Response To: Re: Why arena ranking promotes selfish play (Hawaiian Pig) : This should say: Can you provide me with a scenario where someone who is : optimizing their K/D does so at the detriment of their team? You see a teammate across the map engage an enemy and it's a close battle but he's a shot behind. You then see someone on your own motion tracker approach you. Team Slayer: You'd put a shot on your teammate's foe, then engage your enemy. Possible results: Both you and your teammate get a kill. +2
Since he's behind a shot and would probably die without your help, you'd put the shot on, and take the risk that you can then turn and get your own enemy as he rounds the corner. Weighing the possibilities, having your oppenent be a shot behind is worse than you POSSIBLY being unprepared when your opponent rounds the bend. In arena: You would ignore your opponent's enemy and focus on your own. Possible results:
Now you could choose to put a shot on your teammate's enemy. If you do, the possibilities are: Your teammate kills his enemy, and you kill yours. You put one shot on and don't get the assist. +1
In arena, you would therefore focus on just your own enemy, so as to not risk something happening while you put a shot on your teammate's opponent.
