In Response To: Why arena ranking promotes selfish play (Cody Miller) : I believe that on principle, but not necessarily on a practical level, that : the arena ranking system is flawed for team games in that it promotes : selfish play, and penalizes players who try to help their team. ... : Discuss. I would put forth something even more general: the fact that I can see my K/D ratio makes me a more selfish player. I believe I would be a better team player (i.e. would participate in more team shooting, would engage side-by-side with teammates) if I wouldn't have to suffer the disgrace of a 8-12 K/D score. For example, 8 kills, 10 assists, and 10 deaths would be a very good game, IMO. However, this would show as a K/D ratio of .8, which is icky. But in reality, 18-10 is much nicer. If K/D took assists into account, I would play differently. (NOTE: I acknowledge pursuit of K/D to be shitty and am currently trying to rid myself of the stupid obsession)
