More than not knowing how long GS's 'years' are (we do, actually, have it on decent authority that his years are about the same as ours), we have no clue when the simulations started. You're assuming there were no tests before the first actual firing - that seems like a foolish assumption.

Given that we don't know anything at all about the age of the ring, we can't really say how often it fires based on the number of tests.
