Do they really think no one notices these : things? I noticed the land masses around the island but I think it's reasonable to view this as just part of the graphical enhancement. It's extra detail - in this case to the background scenery. I'm not worried about it, and for me it'll be a far less significant visual change than those in weapons and covies, for example. All of these things will constitute noticeable inconsistencies with H1, but I see no reason to pick out the background scenery for special objection. It's just going to be a case of jumping into the CEA world as a new imagining of things to some extent. That's how I view it. In a slightly earlier post you said "It's a change for change's sake", but I don't think that's right. The addition of extra land will undoubtedly make the view out to sea more interesting and attractive. I assume that was the rationale for including it - rather than to change things for the sake of it. I anticipate enjoying the resulting views. Given that so many other things will be looking noticeably different from H1, making the CEA world so evidently not a minimalistic facsimile, I actually welcome the enhanced background. Might as well have it and get the benefit I think. Again in that earlier post, you said "If anything it takes away from a story element...that the security system on the ring went from very isolated to just on a nearby island". But firstly, was there anything in H1 about it being very isolated? If you're going by a book or something, that wouldn't carry any weight for me. Secondly, I don't see how the presence of extra land implies that the island is any closer (to MC's last location) than it was before. Actually you might still be free to think of the island as remote; namely as part of a remote group of land masses. : when we play the Anniversary Edition, we'll see a distant mountain appear and disappear when switching back and forth between the classic and anniversary modes. But what of it? We'll also see visual changes in all other features, in varying degrees. I'm not sure why these changes would concern you. It's not like you'll be switching modes as part of the actual gameplay. Not if you want an immersive experience anyway.
