What if it wasn't? What evidence other than the absence of visible land masses in the SC map and the ring texture supports this? If this were an important and relevant fact, necessary for parsing what Halo is telling us, might it not be communicated in some other way as well? Or is the hypothesis here that the island's isolation is an important fact we need to comprehend in order to understand the significance of that level and the events that occur on it, and this fact is doubtless included in the Halo Bible, and given to 343i by Bungie, and that they either are unaware of it (unlike us) or willingly chose to ignore or discard it, despite professing to be attempting to preserve the originally as faithfully as possible, within their intentions to modernize its look? I stand by
The least effort of all would be to do nothing and just stick with the Games on Demand release, so clearly while minimizing effort is a priority, as always, it isn't necessarily the top priority :) : This is just something I noticed in a single viewing of the trailer. I guess
From your perspective? Quite likely, a whole lot, since I think you've assigned importance to a lot of details that Bungie never considered that important-- and if Bungie didn't consider them important, 343i will have no way to do so.
