I'm gonna go through this one more time, in simple terms... and then I'm gonna get the hell out of this discussion, because it's leading nowhere. Until Halo for PC is finished, it's irrelevant what MS thinks should happen with it - will you buy that? (If there's no product to sell, deciding whether or not to hold it back is moot.) Halo for PC is not finished - and (as has been stated by at least 3 Bungie employees on this forum - none of whom have been known to lie directly to us) the reason it's not done has nothing to do with Microsoft. IF (and that's a VERY big if) there were a version of PC Halo finished right now, there MIGHT be a case to be made that selling copies of it might eat into Xbox sales. However, there IS no version. So there are no sales to be eaten. When the PC version is finished (I'd be blown away if that happens before the end of the summer), you'll finally have to make your leap of faith: You're claiming that in, say August, if the PC version was on the shelf next to the Xbox version, someone who DIDN'T OWN AN XBOX would choose to buy the PC version over the Xbox version... but that same person, if the PC version WASN'T on the shelf, would snap up a new Xbox and Halo. I say bullshit. I say not a single sale of Xbox Halo will be 'stolen' by the PC version, once it's out... because the only serious overlap in the markets are people that ALREADY HAVE XBOXES. The argument that 'I bought an Xbox because I couldn't wait for the PC version to come out' is totally irrelevant... because right now, the PC VERSION ISN'T DONE. It's not Microsoft's nefarious conspiracy... it's just plain reality; they haven't finished it yet. If you choose to buy an Xbox now instead of waiting for the PC version, you're not buying into any MS scheme - you're simply making a choice based on the reality of the situation. I'm wasting time here - I'm done. | |
