I have PCs in the house because my wife thought it prudent to expose our kids to the computer that 93% of the world uses. I stay off 'em as much as I can. I'm as hardcore a mac bungie fan as you'll find, I'll wager... and I don't feel slighted in the least. I believe wholeheartedly that they're making the PC/Mac version, not because it's gonna make money, but because they promised they would. I think Halo will be the last game Bungie releases on a computer platform. (I could be wrong - this is a personal opinion.) I think any other company out there would have said 'to hell with the PC version - it's an albatross around our necks. Let's just can it.' Sierra did that with Mac Half-Life... after pouring a boatload of money into it. They're Bungie, though, and they LIKE their fans - even when the most vocal group is a tiny percentage of the people who buy their games. I think they're making the PC version for you - and for every other hardcore Bungie fan. I don't think they're making it to make money. (Here's where I'll diverge from protexts' argument - I think their time would be much more profitably spent working on a new game, or on Halo 2, or whatever - I think PC Halo is a gift to the fans.) That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. | |
