In Response To: Re: Hm. Where to begin? (Gravemind) : It's not a matter of bragging rights. It's not even a matter of how hard the : game is. It's a matter of what makes the game hard. What should the main : source of Legendary's challenge come from? Some of you might be fine with : simple overwhelming firepower. But where do we draw the line on how : powerful the enemy should be? In Halo 1, the damage output of the enemy as : a multiple of the player's base damage output was as follows for most : weapons: 0.5x on Normal, 0.7x on Heroic, and 0.9x on Legendary (most : weapons inflicted half their base value when used by enemies on Normal; : Heroic and Legendary gave a 40% and 80% boost respectively). In Halo 2, 3, : and Reach it is something like 0.8x on Normal, 1.1x on Heroic, and 1.5x on : Legendary (if I'm remembering my figures right). So, enemies do more : damage on Normal in H2/3/Reach than they did on Heroic in the original, : more on Heroic than in H1 Legendary, and over 60% more on Legendary than : in H1 Legendary. Is that not enough? Too much? Just right? Have you taken into account how much the shield damage increases, player weapon effectiveness decrease, increased enemy firing speed, and probably most importantly the amount of damage the player can take before dying? : You say that some find Reach too easy on Legendary? Well, some people would
It's so much that nothing is too hard as that nothing is too tedious or takes too long, anyone with the dexterity to type (which you have), good eyesight, and the mental capacity to do things like provide mathematical reasoning to back up their stance on game difficulty can be just as good at a game : 14 hours and 300 deaths would leave a bitter taste in just about anyone's mouth,
that sounds like one of my average playthroughs, if only because I have a pretty aggressive playing style, and I have a lot of fun with it : Of all the ways that the game can be made challenging on higher difficulties,
I get that and I support where you're coming from but I disagree on the cheapness, and I guess there aren't a lot of options for where to take it from there, so it's a good thing I'm out of things to type.
