I think what Gravemind is getting at is that none of the difficulties strike the same balance of challenge/fairness/approachability/forgiveness as in previous games. As much as I loved Heroic in previous games, Reach is just too punishing and there aren't as many effective approach options, but turning the difficulty down just makes it boring.
