In Response To: Re: Some Clarification (Louis Wu) : This is the part that I have trouble with - the idea that there's something : that's universally ANYTHING. OK, so by "universally" I mean "disliked enough to be voted down" by whatever percent of the players it takes to vote it down. : I, for one, like Team Brutes. The last 3 or 4 games of it I've played in BTB
That seems good, right? I mean, most people playing through untii the end is a good thing. That seems to be how the majority of my games go too. Part of the reason I play BTB Slayer so much is that it isn't as affected by a couple of people quitting as a 4v4 game. I happen to like Team Brutes too. Not so much on Colossus, but almost anywhere else it's fun (even on Headlong, so long not everyone quits, because the vehicles are quite powerful). : If all your friends hate a certain gametype, it's easy to start believing
I only start believing everyone hates a certain gametype when a large number of people quit that gametype consistently. I happen to like just about everything except SWAT (which I don't play!). You're right that they agree on nothing as a group. But a finer analysis would probably indicate 80% of people like such-and-such on that map, and so on. I would think such knowledge would be useful, and a live voting system might find this out. There are games, like Plasma Punchout, which I found fun for several weeks, but got stale after awhile. If there were some kind of live voting system, it might detect this and say "Hey, it's time to get rid of that one, since 80% of the people are saying they don't want to play it." I'm not asking the quarter of a million people to agree on anything. I'm asking them what their opinion is in the hopes that it will help the most people get what they want. Still, I like Bungie having the role as benign dictator, since there are plenty of games I never would have thought could be fun, which are some of my favorites (Team Duals Xtra, for example!).
