In Response To: Some Clarification (3Suns) : First of all, in clarification and to DS's response, the reason I don't quit, : but play out the rest of a game even when one team is grossly outnumbered, : is because somewhere a long time ago, I read that Bungie (Microsoft XBL) : monitors when we quit and at the very least, it goes towards some internal : "reputation". I don't know if this is still true, or if it is : just limited to Ranked games, but from the beginning, even when I have had : good domestic reason to suddenly leave a game half-way through, I have : not. Generally, I try to live by: Do unto others as you would have them do : unto you. A good philosophy. And it would be nice to know if there were some kind of internal reputation. It might scare people into behaving better! : Second, I simply offered an arbitrary number of 5 for Rank demotion. I don't
Well, if there had to be a penalty, it would have to be something that affects you and you alone. And by dropping your ranking, this affects others you play with (you may get matched with people WAY below your skill level: not fun for anyone). The most sensible thing, which many others advocate, is a time penalty on when you can reenter matchmaking. I'm still not a big advocate of this, and would rather see put in place other measure (the live voting on gametypes, advertising of custom games, etc.) which ADD to the possibilities, see how well that works, and THEN address quitting if it's still a rampant problem. For me, the live voting idea would eliminate a lot of problems in BTB Slayer, since there seem to be several gametypes universally disliked. It still wouldn't eliminate quitting altogether, but it would vastly improve my experience.
