In Response To: Re: Who turned on whom? LOTS of *SP* (Count Zero) : This is correct, as far as I can tell, although I have no idea *how* the
Ok, actually this is an important plot point. Remember, 343Gs was floating aimlessly, when he exclaims something to the effect of "Oh boy, here comes help!" Don't remember exact words... the mission the arbiter was sent on, and its' ultimate conclusion start to sow the seeds of doubt into the arbiter's mind. It also lays down a foundation that the Butes have little regard for the religious belief of the covenant. Remember, 343GS is referred to as an Oracle, which takes aback the Arbiter, but Tartarus unceremoniously disables and hauls it in with his hammer...And at the end he threatens to rip it's eye out. : I think the Elites were demoted because of their failure to protect the
: Sounds right. They're the ex-warrior class and they're angry. The plan to replace the elites with brutes, I believe, was conceived before Regret was killed. Seems there ar a few clues to the effect that he believed Regret to be rash and incompetent, though he worded it more politically for Mercy, perhaps to veil his true intentions. Truth has a plan to be in complete control, he could have easily allowed Tartarus to save Mercy, although I do not know if it is cult-like religious fervor that is the reason he wants to set of the Halos, or simply that he has control of a forerunner ship and will be able to escape the impending destruction with his army of brutes. The Halos will wipe out all life, and he can stroll back in a reclaim the covenant homeworld with the brutes and be ruler of the known galaxies.
In the DVD, the part where they speak of the mural cutscene depicting how elites and prophets were once bitter enemies maybe something that was rather important to the story. I believe Prophets, Brutes and Jackals are from the same evolutionary side, mammalion in ancestary. Prophets have eyelashes, brutes are apelike with fur, trying to think if jackals have hair or not, but they are dog-like. Elites, grunts and Hunters are definitely not related to these 3 in any way. Perhaps deep seeded hatred of ancient enemies, now turned allies, courses through Truth's veins... : As above, I'm pretty sure Tartarus is acting on the orders of at least one
: I think that's about it, really. The biggest Flood-related revelation is the
I believe Tartarus and Truth know exactly what happens when the Halos fire, that is why they refer to it as the great journey into the great beyond, seems to reference the afterlife...Elite royal guards have an Egyptyian appearance, perhaps Truth believes as the Pharoahs, their slaves should be killed and entombed with them to serve them in the afterlife. By wiping out the entire covenant at once, he will have his kingdom in the afterlife...Not sure which theory to go with yet, this one or the one I described above about wiping out everyone except him and his brutes...
Does anyone think that Gravemind was the strange AI Cortana felt in the Halo system? Seems he had no problem in the end locating her to question her... |
