Well, Space, as Doug Adams told us, is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
Even something as relatively close as Earth would be finding a needle in a haystack. Meanwhile, Durandal was yelling at the top of his lungs for any way out of his private hell. If there's anything Durandal's proven, it's that he's very good at getting attention when he wants to.
(Oh, and Earth had previously gotten some Jjaro aid. That's going to make anyone, even the Pfhor, step a little light.)
