A LOT of ISPs and almost every medium to large business or university use a proxy for their users (especially residential customers of ISPs). They do this because for the most part you won't notice if you're not a server and it greatly reduces bandwidth costs - why get www.yahoo.com a billion times when you can get it once? Between that and your browser cache you can have all sorts of fun with such "server ghosts". Bungie.net is sensitive to such things and was actually kind of entertaining to work around the various problems that running the entire script from a dynamic application caused. Isn't the Internet just fun?
