I'm not going to pretend I know how to publish games. I don't. I've even read Alex's rant about how much self publishing sucks. I get it. While self publishing is obviously the best solution creatively, it just may not be feasible when you expect to sell millions of games. But really. With steam on the PC, Mac, and PS3, I just don't see why Bungie doesn't consider publishing their game through that. It's going to be online since it's an MMO, so steam's system makes perfect sense to me. Of course, there's the xbox 360 which I suspect is why steam wasn't considered. I don't know how big the projected Xbox 360 market for an MMO would be, but it must be large otherwise Bungie wouldn't miss them. I don't see MS changing their minds about Steam on the 360. Still, I'm really puzzled, because several people from Bungie have cried about used game sales and pushed for digital distribution in the past, yet when the time comes for a genre PERFECTLY suited to online digital distribution, they go the traditional route. I love boxes as much as anybody, but when you are playing an MMO you don't need a box.
