I saw this announcement and immediately went :D . Then I read this thread and immediately went >:O .

HBO has always been an enlightened community in my eyes, giving thoughtful commentary and educated opinions, which is why some of the content of this thread is... scary.

Seriously people? Denouncing a game based ONLY on its GENRE? What is this, Bungie.net forums?

All we know about Bungie's next project is that it will involve massively multiplayer online action-based interaction. That's it. Period. We have not seen any videos, or screenshots, or even leaks. We don't know the setting, the characters, the story. Hell, we don't even know what the GAMEPLAY is, just that it's action based: that could mean an FPS, or it could mean spaceship fleet combat.

Deciding to not buy the game based only on the statement that it's an MMO-action game is like deciding you don't like lettuce because it's roughly the same color as brussel sprouts.

In other words, it's an unenlightened, immature, and unreasonable jump of reasoning that is completely fallible and thus demeaning to anyone who uses it. It is the very last thing I expected to see come from this announcement on HBO.

I have been a long time lurker of these forums. Particularly astute individuals may remember me from a few sparse posts dropped over the past half decade. Likewise, I've formed a lot of (mainly good) opinions of the regular posters on HBO, which is why I keep coming back.

A lot of those opinions have been drastically reconsidered based on this thread. You can learn a lot about a person by finding out how ignorant they are.
