I think we can remember the larger PC FPS community turning its nose at the PC version of the original Halo. It had a following, sure, but while it helped redefine and perfect the FPS on the console, the PC reaction was often a "what's so special about this?" outlook and I don't think it was all the fault of Gearbox. Halo 2 Vista was hardly been a success story either, but that's somewhat less of a surprise when it limited itself to a new and initially very unpopular OS. And that the game was pretty old by that point. Can't really expect the PC port of a 3 year old Xbox game to set the world on fire.
