In Response To: A few deep breaths *SP* (ragereset) Still reeling from the impact? I mean, why do they call the releases of games-- hotly anticipated or otherwise--"Launches?" To me, it's more like the violent release of energy from the impact of a massive asteroid. The effects can be devastating. Or, if it contains otherworldly compounds that radically advance our technology, beneficial! (Battlezone, Gunvalkyrie, etc.) Ahem, well... anyway, accurately and concisely sifting through the arguments and reviews, I managed to find a recurrent theme that most of the "Critic Rebukers" nearly fail to notice: Microsoft hatred! To put things very simply, the game's relation to Microsoft and their Xbox has tainted opinions. Notice how Half-Life 2 regularly gets perfect ratings from the community (I'm not saying that it doesn't merit them. Far from it... It's an incredible game.), yet Halo 2 is still regarded as an "Undeserving Upstart", and how, therefore, spots of dissent began to surface? I MUST point out the fact that in nearly all of these "3/10-7/10" reviews, the writer says something about "M$", which, for me, makes that criticizm completely invalid. You may choose to believe it, nobody's stopping you. In fact, I strongly encourage people to think the way they want about the game, forming their own opinions. But I personally refuse to listen to what I percieve as pointless negativity. As for my opinion... No ending? I mean c'mon, the events just previous of the final scene were not closure enough for this chapter? Really? Everyone expected a little too much from Bungie, I'd say. They expected something godlike. With realistic expectations and a clear understanding of hardware limitations, I don't think that there's any reasonable way you could improve upon Halo 2. It's not THE perfect game, but it is, in my opinion ONE OF those so-called "perfect games". Ten out of Ten is my verdict. I also give Half-Life 2 a Ten out of Ten. These games are, technically, without recognizable flaw. They touch so closely upon reality, that we've taken their incredible strengths for granted. I personally believe that, by default, games like this recieve a HIGHER than 10/10 rating, and any flaws bring it down to EXACTLY 10/10, as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I've become a total game nut. I mean, I play games enough for the tension to tone my forearm muscles! They're rock-hard! :D Well, thoughts about having to wait for Halo 3 may stir up impatience, but hey, I'm still patiently waiting for Killer Bean 3! I've got all the time in the world, and there will be many good games to play between now and then. Hopefully I can count MechAssault 2 and Starcraft: Ghost on that list. I'm proud of you all, and I wish only the best for the gaming community. We're all entitled to speak what we wish, and a bit of healthy social competition can bring forth some incredibly valuable data. In fact, I owe my advancement from being a general "idiot newbie" to hardened veteran in part to diligent participation in flame wars, what I see as a positive side effect of those heated debates and rebuttals I've weathered over the years. But do you know what I like the most out of the whole deal? Behind it all, we have some quite talented individuals who have done their best to bring us some fine entertainment indeed. Don't forsake that for some petty grudge! This, I solemnly ask of you. PPS I have yet to play Halo 2 on Xbox live. I cancelled my account due to the fact that my first Xbox upon which I had the account is sitting under my bed collecting dust due to its malfunctioning drive. I don't know whether it's the DVD drive or the Hard drive, but I know that it is completely non-functional in its current state. I'm considering replacing its components and modding it, maybe with a coat of paint, a bigger hard drive and a more reliable DVD drive, a modchip, and well, anything else I can personalize it with.
