EVERYTHING and BETTER

In Response To: Hmm... *SP* (Saint [lpn]) Alrighty, here is a new a refreshing perspective. I never got into HALO 1. I was too busy playing Madden and Metal Gear on PS2 to ever care about HALO or XBOX. That leads me to Nov. 12, 2004. All the marketing and ads on Halo 2 really gave me an itch to try it out, only problem was that I had no XBOX. I wasn't going to spend roughly $250 to $300 bucks go obtain everything I needed to give this game a whirl. That changed about 30 min. after I played HALO 2 for the first time. Two days later I had an XBOX, Halo 2, controllers and XBOX LIVE. For me, this is far and away the best FPS game on the market. The multiplayer alone is worth the price of the game itself. The point is that I never had expectations in my mind of what the game should be like, and it blew my mind apart. I have no problem being sucked into this game and lost in the story and the gameplay. To really step outside this game, and look at it as an entirely new game is key here folks. What most were expecting was a continuation of HALO 1 with new levels and a couple new gameplay elements stuck in. Let's face it. Hardcore players didn't want to relearn a new - complex weapons system, new balancing features, and a more even playing field; especially when they had the first system beyond mastered. And most just didn't want to accept the fact that what they wanted was not in the direction Bungie decided to take with this masterpiece. Evolution is neccessary and will turn out for the better in a month, I guarantee it. Without the changes they may as well have just released a Halo 1.5. This is Halo 2. What we got was a new game. Ground up! This is a fabulous game, and I guarantee that if this game were released as HALO 1 everyone's head would explode because it is so good. Just sit back and stare at the F'in screen and think of it as playing for the first time, then tell everyone what you think. Bottom line, in my opinion, is that this game was not hyped enough. If H1 and H2 came out at the same time and were both sitting on the shelf next to eachother which one would you pick up? That is the question everyone should ask themselves. H2 could only reach certain heights, especially since the 1st Halo was out of this world.
