In Response To: my two cents. *sp* (B-Sharp) My opinion? I think that one of the reasons Halo turned out to be such a great hit was that it was so unobtrusive. No one (at least, anyone outside the dedicated Bungie community, including me) suspected it was going to be such a great hit. Once you pick it up, and play it for a second, it seems to be such an ordinary game with a familiar plot line. But as you play, it is so addicting in that it unfolds with such a great playability and deeper story that it is obvious that it is great. Halo 2, on the other hand, was totally built up. I'm not saying that's bad, but everyone EXPECTED it to be completely awesome and amazing, and so it tried to live up to that by doing all these crazy things and going all these different places. I think one of the smaller things was that they just tried too hard to make it outstanding and in the end, you kind of just have to see it for yourself. I mean, to be honest, if Halo 2 had come out instead of the first Halo, how many of you think it still would have been as much as a worldwide fan-favorite? Anyway, in the end: Halo 2 is a great game. But Halo had that elusive part of it that made us feel totally comfortable with it. Maybe Halo 2 was too much when people wanted a little more of Halo's familiarity. | |
