In Response To: Noteable "community" figures (WRATHofGOD) : I think the first mistake you made was to actually put weight into a review : from a "noteable community figure". Just because someone has : released a few video's, runs a fan site, or posts on a forum every day, : doesn't mean what they say should even be looked at twice. Well said. My little review has been sitting on my site (which is more of a blog nowadays) for a week already. I never posted it to the HBO forums and never emailed Louis asking to post it on the front page. Seeing my name appear on the front page (for any reason) actually makes me cringe. What probably makes it an interesting news item is that everybody expects me to be the über-fanboi. "Hey!, the Warthoggie Jump guy hates Halo 2!!!" (which isn't true). I just have a beef with certain aspects of it, thought Halo 2 could have been more, and decided to share my opinions with the rest of my brethren. It is a community after all. Hey, if I didn't care, I'd be picking my nose on the Quake forums. I did not expect to be handed the loudspeaker that is the HBO front page. My site gets a relatively tiny number of visitors so I thought my audience was a few hundred at most (where have I heard that shit before?). For those of you thinking I'm biting the hand that feeds me or that I'm being suckled by the Bungie teat (or food nipple if you prefer), consider this: I didn't get an advance copy of Halo 2, I don't get free stuff in the mail, or get invited to luncheons with Marty (sniff). My interactions with the crew at Bungie have been limited to the public events. I was fortunate enough to play Zanzibar before it shipped, but any determined Bungie fan could have done that (heck, even fans as far away as c0ld, BOLL, and Stuntmutt got to play it). I stand in line just like everyone else. I will admit that I have been lucky enough to visit Bungie as a result of my little video (nearly three years ago), but that probably has more to do with the fact that I only live 17 miles away. As Bill Shatner once said on SNL, "get a life!" my new years resolution: to visit HBO only once a week (sorry Louis!) ;-) -rglass überdork
