In Response To: Re: Pondering......... (8Delicious) What if! What if The Covenant are the descendants of atlantis, which was supposed to be a pretty advanced place. Perhaps these atlantians saw how the rest of humanity was plaguing the world and they simply chose to leave the planet, through the years they evolved suited to whatever environment they made their new home and started over, passing stories about the dangers of the ways of mankind and what they represent. So a few thousand years pass and suddenly they find the evil which they've been told about forever has spread to a number of planets and they make a snap reaction, wipe them out! To them, they don't see themselves as part of that world any more, just a memory, distorted by countless rehashings and reteachings over thousands of years they find themselves in the position of being able to finally rid themselves and the universe of humanity. Taking out colony after colony, they get over confident, they get to earth and take a hard slap to the face, the confidence turns to rage, they no longer seek to merely wipe out the planet, they give chase to the aggressors. When they find that they have blown the humans out of space onto HALO, they land, bombardment is too swift a death for these people that have stayed their righteous quest, now they want down and dirty extermination. Come on guys, quit thinking like people who have played to many computer games and have been corrupted by the flaws of logic that get ingrained because of the restrictions of game design, when things get personal you don't sit back calmly and press a button, you send in men and destroy the spirit of the enemy. This is more satisfying than orbital bombardment any day.
