Not only does it sound similar to the flood, it also sounds like potentially the home of a really rampant and pissed AI

: Halo universe? If Cortana (soon to become Durandal) liked the Marathon

Durandal, simply because he wouldn't have it any other way. I could much more see him as an influencing factor in the Haloverse than Cortana in Marathon.
