In Response To: Re: Halo PC Strategy Guide "Weapon Gamer Tips" -> (Jyuuichi)
: A tip for anyone playing Legendary - The only weapons you should ever carry
: are the Plasma Rifle and the human Pistol, but having said that, from Two
: Betrayals onward you should carry a shotgun. If you're using the plasma
: rifle, and you charge an elite at mid-short range firing, then hit him as
: soon as you get up to him, then start firing again, he'll drop, usually
: without even taking down your shields, and the icing on the cake is that
: the Rifle doesn't overheat. Oh, and if you're playing on anything harder
: than Normal, don't ever, ever, ever attempt to use the Shotgun on Covies.
: Several hundred times i've forgotten about this, run straight up to a Red
: Elite on Legendary and given him a blast to the face, and died. Most of
: the time the shot won't even take their shields down. One exception to
: this rule is Hunters, the shotgun isn't quite as effective as the pistol,
: but two or three shots will do the same job.
The Plasma Rifle overheats pretty easily when you are playing on Legendary: only use it if you have too. The reason being is that it oveheats way too fast for the number of times it fires (in a full finger to the trigger manner) and that it is relatively weak compared to other weapons (20 rounds with the Needler) I want to point out that from 343 Guilty Spark onward you should be carrying a shotgun. The shotgun in the Library is your best friend, don't ever let it out of your sight. When playing on Legendary, your absolute, 100%, best buddies are the pistol and the shotgun. The shotgun is amazing on the Legendary Elites, especially on the shiny gold ones, as one shot can kill them if placed correctly, two if you have bad aim. If you can avoid it, try not to use the shotgun on the grunts, kinda like using a grenade to kill a cockroach, one shot to the head with the pistold will suffice. Save you shotgun ammo for Jackels and Elites.
