One of these is the ideal way to combat the : flood. The most effective weapon combination is the M6D Pistol and the M90 : Shotgun. Use the pistol to engage flood at long range, and use the shotgun : to dispatch the flood when there close up. When fighting the flood always : aim for the center of the body mass. Hitting anywhere else is ineffective : and wastes ammo. Actually... while I'll agree with you that this is the best combo for fighting the flood (though a case can be made for the assault rifle/shotgun combo, as well), I'll have to disagree that you should aim for the center of the body mass at all times. At long range, I find that shooting off the arms of a flood requires far less ammo (just two shots per flood - it's usually 3+ at range if you go for the body or the head) and is more consistently useful. (Having armless flood at a distance actually decreases the fire you take; not only aren't they shooting at you, but they tend to get in the way of their friends. :) )
