In Response To: Re: I enjoyed him (SonGoharotto) : He might as well not even exist. This much is true, but I don't strictly blame the character for this. It was just a very poorly executed concept. What would have been more interesting was if his orders had been obeyed and instead of just walking to a kindly provided Pelican by what were essentially mutineers, we had to fight and sneak (with Cortana's erratic assistance) our way to one of the hangar bays to take one. Perhaps it would have been better if Lasky has found and confronted John as he was about to board that Pelican, given his speech and then ultimately letting him go. Putting all of the emphasis of that decision upon Lasky, rather than showing a hangar full of personnel who happily greet and salute you.
