: This would also essentially explain the Didact's changed appearance. We know
: he was trying to make himself immune to the Flood via genetic tampering,

This is a really interesting idea. Frankly, it makes more sense that the Forerunners would alter their bodies than their actual heads and appearances, save for aesthetic purposes. So when you look at the differences between the Warrior-Servant Didact and the Composer-Immune Didact, it doesn't really make much sense why some of those changes would have come about. How do tusks make him better at defeating the Flood. It's not like he was planning on eating them.
In that way, it makes more sense that those features came about as an unintended side-effect of the state of mind he was in when he underwent his mutation. And of course the same would go for the Librarian, altering her features to be softer, smoother.
In fact, this idea makes just as much sense as anything else I've heard, and as far as I see it it fits in perfectly with what we've seen of the Forerunners from Halo 4.

Now the next step would just be to speculate how the mental outlooks of the different Forerunner individuals in the Forerunner Trilogy, combined with their life stations, would alter their appearances. Faber certainly would be an interesting one to envision next.
