In Response To: Visualizing the Halo Universe Round 5 Summary (Postmortem) Well, a couple quick thoughts... I don't think it's lack of incentive necessarily, but ... from my perspective, it seemed like there's a lot more work needing to be put into the research, details and accuracy of the depictions, when it originally felt like the 'contest' would be more of a ..creative(?).. thing from a visual perspective. For me, when the first few entries were submitted, seeing all the words (heh) accompanying the art sort of had me shy away from joining in. I'd love to see just creative visualizations of various things in the Halo universe, whether already depicted in official media or not. Perhaps provide bonus points for accuracy with existing designs and specs, but give more encouragement for people just to be purely creative with how they see things... Perhaps provide extra context. Instead of "visualize element XYZ that we know virtually nothing about visually" (which even so may be the primary intent of this for-fun-contest), provide a bit of a backdrop; like "visualize a Saber in space combat with at least two other vessels" or something to that effect... Personally I'd find that a lot more exciting and creatively inspiring than trying to visualize and define lesser-known Halo assets and be as accurate as possible to fiction details I may not have yet come across...
tl;dr:
(but that's just my (hopefully) constructive input worth a mere 2cents /:)
