Most of the time a big, detailed universe is made by a group like this there tends to points where the story intention diverges eventually. Mass Effect had this with Kasperyan recently saying he did intend the basic idea of the fan theory related to Dark Energy instead of the Space Magic ending we got. How many writers/canon-creators have been in charge of the Halo universe in the past? Did all of them intend the Forerunners = Human thing the whole time? We already know the universe changed a great deal from when Humans were discovering new Human planets. Up until the later part of Bungie's control it was all kept really vague. Overall though, I guess Halo is in a weird position for this since it went from 95% Bungie control of the story to a mostly new group of leaders under 343. Even handing over everything they had, stuff will still end up different than planned, especially if/when 343 gets past whatever Bungie came up with. The Forerunner books are supposed to at least cover the events of the Terminals at some point according to Bear. Bungie said they threw around a few ideas before they settled on Reach's concept, including continuing John's story, right? I wonder if any real amount of progress was made toward this, with it becoming some small part of the Reclaimer games. Or did they only really plan as far as John and Cortana floating toward the Forerunner structure?
