The Forerunner backstory was never something I followed strongly. I've seen dozens of theories as to what our relationship with them is. Direct descendants? Distant offshoots? Adopted species?

Whatever it was, the truth has always been obscured behind vague terms like "Mantle" and "Reclaimer." Maybe Spark did call us "Forerunner", maybe Bias did refer to us as his "Makers". But why does the Beastarium refer to us as Humans? Why are we called "Reclaimers"?

The idea that we are direct descendants doesn't seem to fit in well. The idea that we are distant offshoots of Forerunners, perhaps due to Precursor meddling, is probably closer to the 'truth'. And is something that was hinted at in Cryptum/Primordium.

When it comes to fiction, the "Anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot" position is a fast way to come across as a jerk. You are an intelligent young man, scarab, and I know that you can participate in this debate without descending to Cody Miller's level.
