I : could have learned far more from a full-scale invasion of Earth. And you : know, felt like I'd earned that information. The way I look at Halo is that it is a reflection of how the world was. The storylines and characters were a political and social awareness of the climate of war and mistrust/misunderstanding of world events. I don't see the parallels between Halo and the real world as coincidence. For all of Bungie's straightforward approach to telling a simple space game with H:CE to the political leanings of the subsequent games, that has to be admired. That in a time when WW2 and Tom Clancy games suddenly dominated while still portraying "heroes vs villians", Bungie bucked that trend and tried to show that humanity and all life was sacred. That both sides in a conflict have their own justifications and ramifications during war. Just my two cents. I enjoyed the politics and insights. They took a huge franchise and used that as a political tool while still giving us a fun game. Who knows how many people now have a broader world view because of that. -Hedge.
