In Response To: I've always found this to be a pretty good metric (Eiii) : At least one easy way to tell who is/isn't worth listening to around here is : by listening to their opinion on the covenant sections in Halo 2. : Basically, people who liked it/don't really care are : not-automatically-idiots, and the people who write either really long or : really short posts on the subject should generally be ignored entirely. I : haven't really seen anyone with a legitimate complaint against the levels : as a whole yet, because as Arithmomaniac summarized so conveniently above: : a) The people who hate him have a ridiculously shallow understanding of : what's actually going on/don't care to learn new things : b) Are ridiculously shallow themselves : and/or : c) Hate new things (admittedly, it's entirely understandable why the Halo : series has attracted people like this) : ...gameplay/level design criticisms are a different matter of course, but we
I hate to be the guy who only writes a short post, but from a literature point of view playing as the enemy either ruins the story as all sense of mystery is lost, or is a opportunity to elevate the story, as you get a insight into theyre ambitions and motivations. With Halo 2 the enemy has no real motivation, you play as them but theres no amazing revelation, the gameplays good, but on a story level they ruin it, Halo 1 just had so much more mystery to me. I cant be the only one who thinks that Halo doesnt need the prophets? What im trying to say is, when the enemy has motivations that equal the good guys the story gets interesting, Halo 2 didnt do this and instead had a pretty convulating story, where you play as the 'enemy of your enemy'.
