Gameplay is never canon *SP*

Only cutscenes, scripted dialogue, and level progression is. Take, for example, ODST. Any given ODST has little trouble dispatching a lone Brute Chieftain in gameplay, however, in the NMPDHQ final cutscene, it takes three ODSTs to bring one down, and it was only because Buck managed to stick his knife in the jugular. If Buck had missed his swing or dropped his knife or something, I could very well see that Chieftain killing all four of them.
