Or at least that's what you'd think if you believed every single part of the things people can come up with. Take topless modelling. Is it empowering? Does it degenerate women? What about one woman who likes it and one who doesn't? Where the hell do you come down on an issue that is so convoluted (and completely beyond the realms of a gaming forum!) that for years society as a whole has been struggling with it. You might 'enjoy' this blog which looks at visual media through a feminist slant. Be warned: I have had to step away from my browser because I've been so enraged by some of the 'men are the source of the world's problems' attitudes, but it's interesting to read the arguments and decide for yourself what you think. I think if anything Bungie is guilty of romanticising the rescue of Cortana. I don't think it's within the scope of a first person shooter to examine the themes surrounding a torture situation, disempowerment, possible rape. Does that mean games shouldn't stray into that territory? I'm not sure. I just know I don't like those levels.
