Whether you can argue if Dare really is a : bad stereotype, I personally don't believe that the creators meant to : include Dare as this. It was a bad combination of the negativity that they : portray towards ONI coupled with different themes that eventually emerge : from female characters. : Wrong place at the wrong time? When I define myself as a feminist I just mean I want women to have equal treatment to men. I don't want men put down, I don't want women in power over men - as has been pointed out elsewhere in this thread, there's no reason why a man can't come and rescue a woman, the set up just has to point out that it's not because 'oh hey she's a girl'. Dare got out of her pod before Rookie managed to get out of his, look at it that way. She survived with a helmet and completed her objective. Some may not find her likeable but that's not necessarily because she's a woman I don't think. I always think the line Dare says "unless you spent all night hiding in your pod, you must be pretty good" is hilarious because that's exactly what Rookie's been doing for the past six hours.
