The stations at Reach were stationed at the poles, and there were only twenty of them - yet they were able to destroy nearly three hundred and twelve Covenant ships (the number of enemy ships Cortana gives is 312, there are about a dozen left at the end of the battle, and I think reinforcements showed up at some point).
