Also, I think Marine's comment about Maria having to date a Basketball player has more to do with the prospect of a spartan having intercourse with a human. In my humble opinion only Shaq and I are man enough for her. I wouldn't condemn Marine for drawing conclusions from a trailer, as that's what a trailer is meant for. A trailer can tell you to watch a great movie, or it can be a stern warning to steer clear of crap like "Son of the Mask" or "Alone in the dark". It's a huge, double standard to say that this guy can't say that "Halo wars will suck" from the trailer alone, but no one would mind if he said "Halo 3 will be great" based on the trailer by itself. If the trailer for Halo wars wasn't going to reflect the artistic vision for the finished product, I doubt ensemble would have released it. A lot of thought and effort goes into a trailer, and ensemble wouldn't have let anyone see it if they didn't think it represented their quality well. In other words, they consciencously approved of the "We'll give 'em war" line and they do expect you to believe that that little line will be up to par with the rest of their writing. I myself don't think too much of the line. I did hate it, but I won't let it cloud my judgement when it comes to what really matters in the game. Marine, a lot of the video game movies of old lacked someone with integrity at their helm, good special effects artists and someone who could pull of a dignified and entertaining adaption. The Halo movie will have all of those things in the form Neill Blomkamp, Peter Jackson and WETA digital. Plus, I know for a fact a lot of studios just greenlighted their VG movies and had very little artistic involvement. They were just pleased with the publicity the movies game them. I doubt you'll see this problem with Bungie. As for your concern about idiotic fans, I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say the HBO forums will always be a bastion of free thought and intelligent discussion. | |
