In Response To: Voi or New Mombasa? Also, the covenant forces in the trailer were identified : as an Excavation Force. : So, does that make the following true? : - Regret was on Earth for something that was not the Ark. : - Regret decimated New Mombasa when he left. : - The crater shown in the trailer was not made by Regret's departure, because : it is in/near Voi. : And, if so, what about the following: - The Covenant found the Ark after : taking control of Earth. : - The Covenant actually made the crater we are looking at. : If the crater in the trailer IS in New Mombasa, can someone explain the : significance of Voi? Or really, is it just the "Road to Voi" we : are interested in? I think that the Covenant probably believe that they need both the Ark AND a Halo to begin the great journey, since even the Covenant can see the significance of there being seven halos AND an Ark, even if they don't understand what exactly they are for. In that case, it's likely that the prophet of Regret was not sent to Earth (or at least it's co-ordinates) to find the Ark, rather he went because it was the next clue in finding the location of a functioning halo(for which the clues were perhaps found at instillation 04). So in other words, the prophet of Regret may have gone to Earth with just a scouting force because they had found it's co-ordinates at instilation 04, or perhaps on Reach, and went to find the next clue, leading them to yet another halo (instilation 05). Only later after they realised that this was infact humanitys homeworld, did they consider it for possibly having the Ark on it (or whatever the hell you wanna call the "Artifact"). That would explain why the "Artifact" is perhaps near Voi as opposed to New Mombasa, as New Mombasa held the information vital for finding another Halo, while Voi actually has the "Artifact".
