| Mainstreaming killed the community.*Semi-Long* | |

In Response To: Golden Days? (Odin's Rain) For some reason, the "mainstreaming" of halo killed the community. Although Live! is an awesome feature, it brought the jerks to bungie.net(to check stats[which ultimately became the largest problem]). Then, they found the forums. And 90% of the people have probably never graduated elementary school(Omg thei founded a knew glictch! Ban tham bungle!). I lurked around here around 01, and only started posting around mid 02. My first bungie game I played was ONI(and might I say, I was hooked), and when I found out about Halo, I became the largest bungie fan in my school. I started to come here all the time, posting more often, etc etc. When I got live, and played h2 matchmaking, I was flabberghasted by the jerks,cheaters, and all around idiots on live. Slowly, the whole community started to deteriorate. Bungie.net has fallen for good, and slowly, this place is lacking the magic it had before(Frogblast, where are you?. BOLL, come out from your rock =P). Although I don't know many of the greats well, and have some grudges against others(sorry KP and STL, the fault is completely on me.), many HBOers have made Halo 2 on Live amazing. Playing custom games, fooling around with Arashi in matchmaking(hey, that was BEFORE the reset.), and even talking in the pre-game lobby. Custom Gaming with people you know, really makes halo 2 amazing. There were the Era of the LAN's, too. Although i've never been to a HBO lan, I've hosted plenty of my own, and had a blast!. No jerks, no problems, just straight out fraggin! However, many of the newcomers just care about rank. Rank became more of a badge, than to match you up with people of your same skill. Although I'm a level 5 right now(i've barely played matchmaking since the reset), I still hold my own in custom games. However, everytime I go into matchmaking, I get called a n00b by some 10 year old jerk. With X05 coming up, and hopefully an announcement of Halo 3(H2 was announced at X02, so maybe some Deja-Vu will be nice =), I think the community will build itself back up again. Just like the Pre-Halo 2 days. People will be spitting out more theories, more speculation, and the jerks will hopefully go away. So, the Golden Days may be gone, and we figuratively(sp?) are in the Dark ages right now, the Platinum Days could be coming up. Well, I just got writers block. ~Reconaz/Recon/Chaos Recon/R3c0n/R3c0nXIII/Tru7h and R3c0n (jeez, its sooo hard to keep a single alias!)
