This : forum is only as good as the people who frequent it; complaining is like : whining that your pants don't fit any more. That last line was particularly rude. My pants DON'T fit anymore. I've gained wait! Me, the twig! Must be all that Halo. In all seriousness, I haven't been around forever (started lurking at E3 2003, when the Halo 2 hype machine really started rolling), but even in my short time span I noticed several laments as to the way things were, and the way things should be. I, for one, have enjoyed this forum immensely: there's a reason HBO is my homepage - I eventually realized I was just opening up Firefox and pulling down the bookmark menu to go here first anyway. The community is fun, intelligent, and, above all, vibrant. As Mig said, it's constantly changing - that's the beauty of it. Joining it when I did, I noticed that I seemed to have missed a grand period in the forum's history; namely, the post-Halo 1 release period of discovery and awe. I soon realized, however, that the glasses I had been using to look back on that period were tinted with the nostalgic attitude of the forumgoers that were describing it. It's all in the eye of the beholder. One man's pie is another man's porridge (I might have just made that cliche up). Basically, to echo the sentiment expressed elsewhere, Ross: that's the nature of the beast. In a year, without a doubt, someone will post a note lamenting the then-current state of the forum and pining for the glory days of "that great time in summer '05." It's all relative.
