(Sparkypinball) The Monitor definitely does have an internal power source, as he is seen flying off into space in the ending movie (after Halo has been smashed up). Unless he is getting 'beamed' (or however that system would work) power from a ridiculously long way away (i.e., the nearest Forerunner station), he must be supplying his own power. My guess is that there is no other AI on Halo, but one of his own sub-systems or one of Halo's sub-systems reactivated the Monitor automatically once it had been shut off unexpectedly (by Cortana). Whether Cortana controlled all of the power on Halo is uncertain, but she could definitely smack 343GS in that first moment. She then seemed rather powerless to stop him, so there was probably a different mode the Monitor went into after being shut-off by force. : Remember after Chief inserts the index, the nice lights pop up, and the
